David began his adult service to the Movement by becoming a Scout Leader in March 1956 until 1961.
He then took a break in order to raise his family, but joined the Cub Pack in 1976, where he remained with the 1st Langley Scout Group as the Group Scout Leader until 1983.
Upon moving to Dorset, he became the Group Scout Leader of the re-opened Broadmayne Scout Group in 1997 until 2002. During this time, he saw the introduction of the younger section called Beaver Scouts; girls being permitted to join Scouting; and, the rule of leaders having to "hang up their woggles" at 65 years - scrapped!
He continued with his support and guidance for scouting by becoming a member of the then Dorchester District Executive Committee from 2005 until 2012.
He was also the Scout Post Master General for the village of Broadmayne - when his conservatory became the sorting, collecting and stamping office for the four weeks leading up to Christmas each year!
His service to Scouting was recognised when presented with his 20 years Service Award in 2011.
